Please take the time to read the long history of Joka GlovesThe year was 1960 and two young men from Evijärvi, Finland, had a business idea.. a manufacturing of PVC-coated safety gloves. One of them knew a quite lot about economics and the other knew his share of plastic production techniques. This is how Jokamuovi was born. Back then the brand name was SUJO.
For the first ten years this "Team" Sulkakoski & Jokela made gloves mainly for the nearby markets, but allready on the year of 1970 the export in Soviet Union, Sweden and Norway was started. In 1979 the youngest son of Sulkakoski, Pekka and his wife Tuulikki Sulkakoski came to work as enterpreneurs for the company. In the 80´s Jokela retired and Jokamuovi Oy expanded their premises along with bargain of production machines from Nokia´s Ähtävä factory.In the 90´s the export expanded to USA and to the middle of Europe. Jokamuovi also launched new brand JokaSafe for it´s gloves. When Finland joined the European Union in 1995, personal protective equipments were forced to meet tightened standarts but EU also opened doors for gloves with high quality, like JokaSafe.
Today Jokamuovi Oy manufactures III-categorian gloves mainly for industrial use, but also for freetime activities in all weathers like icefishing and hunting. Products have been tested in The Finnish Institute of Occupational Health. (CE-Label)The company has been hooked on gloves for nearly 50 years and has become a very highly apreciated partner in personal safety equipment business. The export percent in year 2008 is over 50 and the company is also developing and looking ahead; The third generation, enterpreneur´s oldest daughter has been working for the company since 2004 and is very interested in keeping the company in competition also in the future.How do we manage to produce these gloves in Finland? The answer is; an excellent staff. Our employees are all trained here in the factory and they are professionals in making Joka -safety gloves.
